Is Saline Tattoo Removal Safe?

By Cristina, NVQ Level 4 Aesthetic Therapist

Saline tattoo removal is considered a safe procedure when it's carried out by a trained practitioner using sterile equipment and proper technique — and when aftercare instructions are actually followed.

On our side, that means sterile, single-use needles and tools for every session, antiseptic cleaning of the area before and after treatment, gloved application throughout in a sanitised workspace, and a full consultation and health check before any treatment is agreed.

That consultation matters because saline removal isn't recommended for everyone. Treatment isn't suitable if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or broken skin over the area, have a history of keloid scarring, or have uncontrolled diabetes or a clotting disorder — this isn't a complete list, which is why a proper health check comes before every booking, not just the first one.

On your side, safety continues after you leave the studio: keeping the area dry, not picking at the scab, and following the written aftercare instructions we give you all affect how well the area heals.
