How Long Does Saline Tattoo Removal Take?

By Cristina, NVQ Level 4 Aesthetic Therapist

There are really two timelines to think about here: how long a single session takes, and how long the overall process takes from your first appointment to your last.

A single session typically takes 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo. Straight after, the visible fading isn't finished — full fading from that one session continues for around 8 to 10 weeks as the new skin settles underneath the scab.

Because your skin needs that recovery time, sessions are spaced 8 to 10 weeks apart rather than done back-to-back. With body tattoos typically needing 4 to 8 sessions, and eyebrow tattoos typically needing 3 to 6, the full process can realistically run several months from first session to final result.

The exact timeline depends on your tattoo's size, ink density, colour, and age, along with your own skin's response — we'll give you a realistic estimate at your free consultation rather than a generic number.
