Can Saline Remove All Tattoo Colours?
By Cristina, NVQ Level 4 Aesthetic Therapist
Yes — saline removal can treat black ink as well as coloured tattoos, and that includes shades that laser removal often struggles with entirely.
Laser removal works by targeting contrast between ink colour and skin tone with light. That's effective for solid black ink on lighter skin, but it becomes far less reliable for coloured pigments, and it can struggle to target white, pastel, or fluorescent ink at all, since there's little contrast for the laser to lock onto.
Saline removal doesn't have that limitation. Because it works by drawing pigment out through osmosis rather than targeting colour with light, it lifts black, coloured, and pale inks consistently, regardless of the shade.
That said, ink colour still affects how quickly a tattoo responds — some pigments lift more readily than others, which is one of the reasons every treatment plan is personalised rather than generic.
